Position Available:  Director, Radio Operations  

Overview:   Reach Media, Inc., a Dallas-based radio network targeting the African-American community, is seeking an experienced Director, Radio Operations to oversee broadcast & technical operations for syndicated programming products.    The Director will assist the VP, Operations & Programming with managing day to day broadcast operations, technical & production support, supervision of talent and staff, and serve as the liaison with Ad Sales, Sales Service, Engineering, Affiliate Relations, Legal, Marketing and Finance as well as with vendors and third-party providers.  

Primary Responsibilities:  

  • Responsible for the management and scheduling of staff including vacation requests, approve time cards and complete performance reviews.
  • Responsible for managing and tracking talent time off requests and securing internal approvals and fill-in hosts as needed.
  • Provide production support as needed.
  • Serve as back-up for Executive Producers when needed for holidays, vacation and open positions.
  • Coordinate and schedule interviews for programs with Executive Producers.
  • Work with Executive Producers and staff, Sales Service, Production and Engineering to ensure programming and operational best practices are maintained and that all commercials, promo, contests and content air as logged.
  • Responsible for insuring that shows maintain accurate records pertaining to commercial logs and discrepancy reports.
  • Manage recording and distribution of show demoes as requested.
  • Assist with the coordination and fulfillment of remote broadcast requirements for talent and shows.
  • Work with Executive Producers on ideas, topics and guest(s) for in-studio and on- location broadcasts.
  • Oversee the production of timely back-up shows in the event of a technical failure for Satellite Provider.
  • Work with Affiliate Relations to fulfill station requests and coordinate remote broadcast and studio needs.
  • Work with Ad Sales to coordinate NTR opportunities, airchecks, contesting information including securing winner documentation and scheduling client interviews with Executive Producers.
  • Work with Legal to review contest rules and various contracts.
  • Prepare and maintain program budgets, forecasts, accruals, invoice coding/approval, etc. 
  • Track and coordinate ratings for talent bonuses. 
  • Serve as backup to Manager, Network Operations.  
  • Additional responsibilities as requested by Management.
  Requirements:
  • Extremely organized, able to effectively prioritize tasks and detail oriented.
  • Excellent communication, follow-up and interpersonal skills to work with Executive Management, Talent, affiliates and peers in a diverse environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines.
  • Strong technical skills including knowledge of audio equipment.
  • Flexible work schedule including monitoring and responding to email, calls and texts outside of standard business hours.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Minimal travel as needed. 
  Experience/Education:  
  • BA/BS college level degree in broadcasting or relevant field.
  • Prior radio management experience (network preferred).
  • Familiarity with Reach Media programming. 

  Compensation:   Salary is commensurate with experience.
