Position Available: Programming Administrative Assistant, Tom Joyner Morning Show



Dallas based Radio Network, Reach Media, Inc is seeking an experienced Programming Administrative Assistant to provide clerical and administrative support to Dallas Programming departments. 

Candidate will manage administrative responsibilities related to the Tom Joyner Morning Show and assist as needed with other Reach Media syndicated programming. 


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Manage the administrative and clerical responsibilities of the day to day operations of the Tom Joyner Morning Show Programming department.
  • Manages out of town promotional tours or broadcasts by making travel arrangements and coordinating TJMS talent with scheduled affiliate events.
  • Provides weekly correspondence with TJMS talent and comedians and their management for schedules, studio location, upcoming appearances, and daily content distribution. Arrange travel/ground transportation as needed.
  • Maintain phone, email, and mail correspondence for the Programming department.
  • Establish, maintain, and update files, databases, records and other documents.
  • Organize meetings and events for department in relation to arranging facilities, scheduling conference calls, making travel arrangements using AXIOM travel, and providing catering as requested.
  • Take minutes during the weekly staff meeting, and other scheduled meetings and conference calls as directed.
  • Maintain Tom Joyner Morning Show personnel schedules including PTO and travel except for Tom Joyner.
  • Maintain monthly Tom Joyner Morning Show content calendar.
  • Prepare Programming department monthly accruals. 
  • Prepare invoice payments for various talent, independent contractors and vendors. 
  • Update the Radio Operations manual as directed by department management.
  • Designs weekly TJMS One Sheet and sends daily audio promos to affiliate groups.
  • Maintain up to date Affiliate content database & website.  Responsible for the distribution of materials for new and on-going affiliates.  Send programming updates to TJMS affiliate distribution list. 
  • Provide studio coverage as needed for administrative responsibilities.
  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining department supplies.
  • Provide receptionist relief as requested.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by management.   




  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills including the ability to interface with all levels of employees, guests, talent, clients and vendors.
  • Extremely organized and able to effectively prioritize tasks and problem-solve while being attentive to details.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Database management skills.
  • Excellent, demonstrated, computer skills and general office equipment; high proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power Point Programs.  Knowledge of AXIOM travel a plus.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed.  Early morning hours required occasionally. 
  • Ability to travel occasionally.




  • Minimum three years’ experience as an Administrative/Executive Assistant or related experience transferable to broadcasting industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field.




Salary is commensurate with experience. No relocation provided.
