Position Available: Vice President, Advertising Sales


Radio Network targeting the African-American audience seeking a senior level Vice President, Advertising Sales with a proven track record to manage a national sales team and develop and execute strategic plans to promote sales growth, achieve revenue goals and maintain client satisfaction.  Responsibilities include leading a sales team to achieve budget and outpace the market, increase revenue by developing new sales opportunities, managing inventory, pricing effectively, maintaining client relationships and expanding brands across multiple sales platforms including radio, event sponsorships and digital sales.  The successful candidate must be performance driven, a strategic thinker, results oriented, with excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Management of national sales team and coordinators including recruitment, training and performance measurement
  • Provide leadership and assistance to prospect, identify, develop, negotiate, execute and close sales
  • Develop new business sales and identify opportunities to grow revenue and increase market share
  • Collaborate on the development of sales presentations, proposals and negotiations
  • Manage the sales process including pricing, identifying opportunities and marketplace analysis
  • Manage annual revenue and operating expense budget and monthly forecasts


  • Proven record of success managing a sales organization in a dynamic and changing market
  • Outstanding selling abilities and excellent interpersonal skills with senior level clients and partners
  • Established industry contacts and relationships
  • Ability to plan and manage at a strategic level
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with senior level and executive management 
  • Strong organizational, negotiating and communication skills.  Ability to think creatively to solve complex problems
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ratings, account management and media planning
  • Experience operating as part of a corporate sales team utilizing requisite tools for cross-platform sales
  • Knowledge of sales service, traffic and industry methodologies
  • Ability to travel as needed


  • BA/BS Degree in related field
  • Minimum ten years network or national radio or TV sales management experience
  • Proficient in Nielsen, Act I, and MRI research  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Salesforce
  • Knowledge of Counterpoint Proposal/Sales system preferred
