Director, Sales Operations

Overview:

Dallas based Radio Network targeting the African-American community is seeking a Director, Sales Service for their network radio program offerings.

The primary focus of this position will be to increase efficiency from an operational perspective in our Sales Services Department by monitoring sales order, creating export files of commercial schedules to Network Audio Vault and Affiliate Clearance system and copy information for upload to Wegener Receivers and other sales service, traffic and business-related duties.  

Individual will be responsible for generating program logs, scheduling commercials to advertiser specifications, coordinating and distributing commercial materials.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to collaborate with Engineering, Affiliate Relations, Ad Sales and agencies to maximize revenue through the tactical implementation of perishable inventory management.  
  • Liaison with agencies and ad sales to insure copy deadlines are communicated and met, review and approve creative assets and content, create split copy groups, export files to distribution companies and generate appropriate and needed reporting.
  • Assist with post log changes and updates as needed for timely generation of invoices for billing.
  • Manage inventory to achieve effective and maximum utilization.  Manage resolution of missed spots.  Generate and distribute inventory and avails reports when needed.
  • Review proposals and orders for accuracy and to ensure inventory is available and fully monetized.  Work with Account Managers to clear prospective orders.  
  • Schedule and review sales orders to ensure client requests are met including spot, NTR, sponsorship and promotional schedules and assist with the verification of orders, revisions and cancellations. 
  • Facilitate and coordinate ongoing audit requests.  
  • Assist with weekly log closings and monthly invoicing tasks. 
  • Liaison with 3rd party vendors and affiliates.
  • Assist VP with network SOX, audio and compliance requirements.   
  • Provide support and assistance as assigned by the EVP, Operations & CAO and VP, Sales Service.  Provide backup to other Sales Service staff as needed
  • Manage weekly exports of affidavits to affiliates and importing of affiliate clearance data. 
  • Other project-related tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 3 years Radio or TV Traffic/Continuity experience.
  • Prior employee management experience including demonstrated success in department leadership and engagement. 
  • Counterpoint or similar network sales/traffic/affiliate system experience required.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with inventory planning and systems.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience ne with program and commercial delivery systems. 
  • Must be able to work in a deadline driven environment.
  • Must be able to quickly resolve problems that could result in revenue loss and communicate on a timely basis for corrective action.​   
  • Must possess exceptional organizational, time management, problem solving and computer skills including high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Must have excellent customer service and communication skills (verbal and written) and be extremely detail-oriented. 
  • Strong working knowledge of radio production and ability to work with audio files a plus.
  • Must be flexible regarding work schedule particularly on log closing days weekly week and during month-end close period. 

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree in related field.
