Vice President, Affiliate Relations
Overview:
Dallas based Radio Network targeting the African American community is seeking a VP, Affiliate Relations to oversee all aspects of the affiliation process for Reach Media Syndicated products.
Position is available to Work From Home (WFH) but candidate must reside and work in the following states: TX, GA, IL, FL or MD.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Secure and maintain affiliations for all Reach Media products.
- Manage Affiliate Relations team to hit company goals.
- Work closely with our inventory partner & satellite distributor on the following:
o Communication with Wegener (WWO-Denver) and Synchronicity engineers with regard to new affiliation, technical issues & satellite platform changes.
o Track shipment and return Wegener receivers when provided on loan to an affiliate from the allotment received upon renewal of satellite distribution agreement with WWO.
- Negotiate new affiliate agreements and renewals in all markets including inventory levels, contract length, fees, compensation and performance bonuses.
- Manage Reach Network compensation line-ups. Negotiate inventory buys with stations to maintain ratings benchmarks for each sales line-up
- Locate and secure outside studios for talent when not able to broadcast from REACH studios
- Work closely with talent management & affiliates when coordinating talent visits to an affiliate market for station event. In addition, work to secure tickets, meet & greet, etc. when talent is performing in market for a non-REACH or station event.
- Create and maintain affiliate contact lists for each REACH program in order to function for dissemination of program related information, including but not limited to: programming & technical updates, distribution of marketing materials and/or press releases.
- Regular review of Program Operations Manual & Clocks in coordination with Programming Operations to insure accuracy of the contents contained within. Also responsible for distribution of any updates to affiliates.

Develop and maintain affiliate prospect lists for all program offerings represented by Reach Media.
- Create sales, marketing and promotional strategies for affiliate stations and update as needed.
- Establish and maintain a working relationship with station personnel, station and group owners and industry leaders.
- Function as a liaison between Reach and Reach’s partners; the affiliate stations; and Reach’s ad sales, marketing and programming departments.
- Maintain strong interdepartmental relationships and communications.
- Responsible for affiliate operations including:
o Initiating contracts, advisories and related paperwork.
o Ongoing monitoring of affiliate compliance to insure contractual obligations are fulfilled.
o Insure affidavits and proof of performance are completed and returned in a timely manner.
- Work with stations to develop and execute local marketing and sales campaigns.
- Carry out station requests for materials, Reach talent appearances and special needs.
- Communicate to affiliates who have winners in their market for any current promotion/giveaway on Reach shows.
- Provide assistance in the upkeep & maintenance of the affiliate database as needed.
- Assist as needed with Reach Media events.
- Assist company executive management with additional projects as needed.
Requirements:
- Excellent leadership skills to manage successful department.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized, able to effectively prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to maintain the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact proactively with staff, management and affiliate personnel.
- Familiarity with Reach Media programming and events.
- Extensive knowledge of the broadcasting industry including markets, stations, owners, and trends.
- Thorough understanding of Nielsen research and ratings and experience with 3rd party processor software such as Act I, Maximizer, etc.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting, Communications, Marketing or related field.
- Minimum 15 years Radio, TV or Cable affiliate relations experience required.
- Urban Radio background a plus.
