Vice President, Network Audio Sales

Overview:

Dallas based Radio Network targeting the African American community is seeking a dynamic VP, Network Audio Sales to lead a high-performance sales team while managing and growing revenue for all Reach Media network radio assets. As the VP, Network Audio Sales, candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive sales strategy that maximizes revenue opportunities.

This position is located in New York, NY (remote work available for the right candidate).

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Provide leadership and assistance to sales teams to successfully identify, discover, negotiate, close, and manage all aspects of every piece of traditional and non-traditional network audio, streaming audio, and podcast business
  • Proactively lead and work with sales teams to prospect, develop, and execute custom integrated opportunities for network audio assets

  • Develop a go-to-market sales strategy around all Reach Media assets to maximize revenue

  • Manage a key client/agency account list, including relationships and all day-to-day aspects of the list’s sales cycle

  • Formulate selling objectives complete with defined research and promotional strategy for each key network radio account

  • Work with leadership to analyze and optimize as needed the existing sales process to enhance both the internal teams’ and clients’ experience

  • Analyze current and historical revenue data and accounts to uncover new and returning business opportunities

  • Regularly engage with client contacts and agency partners ensuring all business opportunities are shared, while also delivering a continuous flow of business-building insights and ideas

  • Manage the sales process and identify opportunities to grow revenue and increase market share by marketplace analysis, managing inventory, and pricing effectively

  • Plan and direct hiring, development, training, and motivation of sales team
  • Establish quarterly and annual budgets and maintain monthly forecasts
  • Collaborate on the development of sales presentations, proposals and negotiations
  • Build, maintain, and manage a sales pipeline to provide accurate planning and forecasting
  • Quickly and efficiently resolve any client concerns or conflicts that may arise
  • Develop and manage an appropriate process to record all team account assignments, sales activity and track team revenue
  • Understand and embrace the challenges of the constantly shifting media and advertising landscape and engage in forward thinking, thought leadership and preparation to ensure Reach Media is always “one step ahead” in maximizing revenue opportunities, planning, and deliverables
  • Work with leadership to continually improve and refine sales products and offerings
  • Attend and lead client presentations as needed
  • Lead the team by example – via work intensity, salesmanship, and strong command of the product and the advertising/marketing process


 

Requirements:

 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the network radio/audio ecosystem, media planning, and sales methodologies including in the streaming audio and podcasting arenas
  • Established industry contacts and relationships at the client and agency level with a focus on network radio/audio agency leaders
  • Possess strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation skills)
  • Comfort and confidence communicating with C-Suite and Senior level executives
  • Attention to detail, highly organized, thoroughness, accountability, excellent follow-through
  • Must be a proactive self-starter and team-player with the ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize work assignments, work independently and within tight deadlines, adapt and operate in a fast-paced, deadline driven, and evolving team environment
  • Strong track record of consistently and successfully managing and growing client partnerships and revenue targets
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to navigate a highly matrixed organization and collaborate in a team-oriented environment while fostering strong relationships with interdepartmental team members.
  • Deep curiosity and knowledge of urban culture, media, and technology
  • Positive energy, enthusiasm, charisma, solutions-oriented and success-driven attitude
  • Fluency in recent news, pop-culture, trade publications, competitive landscape, trends, and business conversations with the ability to translate that knowledge into actionable linkages directly connected to day-to-day work
  • A track record of performance excellence meeting targets and objectives

  • Must be proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Office (specifically Google shared docs, Word, PowerPoint and Excel)

  • Multi-cultural sales, marketing, and/or communications experience a plus

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field. 
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant management experience at a national radio, audio, media, or related organization

Compensation: Base salary range between $150,000 and $200,000

 

Reports To:         Chief Revenue Officer
